How to Set Up Domain Redirection/Forwarding

Print

Domain redirection (or forwarding) sends visitors who type one URL to a different URL. This is managed in your cPanel.

1. Log in to cPanel via your Koelhost account.

2. Find the Domains section and click on Redirects.

3. Choose the Type:

Permanent (301): Best for SEO, as it tells search engines the move is permanent and transfers page rank. Use this for most final redirects.

Temporary (302): For short-term redirects, like when a page is undergoing maintenance.

4. Select the Domain: Choose the domain or subdomain you want to redirect from the drop-down menu.

5. Enter the Destination: Type the full URL (e.g., https://new-domain.com/) in the Redirects to field.

6. Choose 'www. Redirection': Select whether to redirect www.domain.com and domain.com, only www. or neither. It is usually best to choose Redirect with or without www.

7. Click Add.
